On September 30, 2025, UNC Charlotte's Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning Task Force, led by Provost Jennifer Troyer, released a strategic framework for the ethical integration of AI into the university's educational curriculum. The report outlines a comprehensive philosophy based on four key pillars: TEACH, LEARN, GOVERN, and GROW.

The TEACH component focuses on improving teaching and learning experiences through AI, while LEARN emphasizes fostering collaboration between humans and AI, enhancing critical thinking and creativity. GOVERN prioritizes ethical governance of AI technologies, promoting values such as openness and accountability. GROW calls for deliberate resource allocation to support AI adoption.

Troyer underscored the importance of preparing students for an AI-driven job market, particularly as Charlotte continues to grow as a technology hub. The task force engaged with feedback from 418 campus stakeholders, ensuring that diverse perspectives informed their recommendations. Moving forward, the task force aims to collaborate with academic units and the Center for Teaching and Learning to facilitate the ongoing integration of AI across various disciplines. "Our commitment is to create an educational environment that embraces AI's potential while considering its ethical implications," Troyer stated, emphasizing the university's forward-thinking approach.
