Google has officially launched Gemini for Home, a new AI assistant set to replace the Google Assistant in its extensive lineup of smart home devices. This upgrade arrives alongside an array of new products, including a soon-to-be-released Google Home speaker and revamped security cameras, marking a significant evolution of Google’s smart home technology.

The Google Home speaker, scheduled for launch in spring 2026 at $99, will feature advanced Gemini-powered capabilities such as echo cancellation and background noise suppression to enhance user interactions. Anish Kattukaran, Chief Product Officer for Google Home and Nest, noted that existing users can participate in an Early Access program to test these features ahead of the official release. The speaker will also provide visual feedback through a light ring and will support 360-degree audio, linking with a Google TV Streamer for a superior home audio experience.

In addition, Google has released three new 2K security cameras—indoors, outdoors, and a video doorbell—integrated with Gemini AI. These devices promise improved functionalities such as automatic event summaries and better low-light performance, designed to enhance home security. The existing programming for Nest users is being revamped, migrating to the new Google Home Premium subscription model which includes two tiers priced at $10 and $20 per month, replacing the former Nest Aware plan.

The Gemini assistant is designed to enable users to interact with their devices more naturally and intuitively than before, requiring fewer specific commands to perform tasks. This transition emphasizes conversational capabilities, making it easier to manage multiple smart devices seamlessly. Users will also find a redesigned Google Home app offering improved speed and stability, facilitating easier management of both new and existing devices.

The rollout of Gemini across Google’s hardware is set to take place starting this month, first for cameras and doorbells, followed by speakers and displays by the end of October. Google aims to refine the Gemini experience through feedback from Early Access users, heralding a transformative phase in AI-driven smart home interactions.
