AI startup Anthropic is significantly ramping up its enterprise efforts with a fivefold increase in customer support staff alongside the launch of its latest AI model, Claude Sonnet 4.5, aimed at enhancing employee productivity. The company has seen impressive growth, increasing its business customer base from less than 1,000 two years ago to over 300,000 globally, largely due to the rising demand for its Claude models in various industries, including financial services and manufacturing.

To sustain this growth, Anthropic is tripling its international workforce, particularly expanding its presence in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Over 100 new roles are being created in cities such as Dublin, London, and Zurich, with plans to open an office in Tokyo next year. Chris Ciauri, Managing Director of International, remarked on the extraordinary demand for Claude, noting that companies like SK Telecom and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia have reported significant customer service improvements through its integration.

The newly launched Claude Sonnet 4.5 focuses on production-ready software development, with capabilities for building comprehensive applications autonomously. It maintains the same pricing as its predecessor and offers enhanced performance, as reflected in benchmarks such as SWE-Bench Verified. Industry leaders have praised its task management efficiency. However, concerns persist about AI's impact on employment, particularly in customer support roles, with Chief Product Officer Mike Krieger emphasizing the importance of balancing AI capabilities with human skills.
