Google has officially launched its latest AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, alongside a new feature called Deep Search, aimed primarily at enriching the experience for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. Announced on July 19, 2025, these new capabilities allow users to pose complex inquiries and receive detailed, actionable answers including links to additional information. According to Robby Stein, VP of Google Search Product, Gemini 2.5 Pro and Deep Search are designed to enhance how users interact with information online, particularly in making informed decisions in both personal and professional contexts.

The Deep Search feature enables users to compile comprehensive reports from a variety of sources quickly, which can be particularly advantageous for professionals and academics. In addition, a new functionality lets users make automatic calls to local businesses to check on service pricing directly via the Google interface. This feature, which can be accessed when users request inquiries such as ‘pet care near me,’ is currently being implemented for all US users, with higher limits for premium subscribers.

In a notable educational initiative, Google is also offering a free one-year subscription to Gemini AI Pro, valued at Rs 1,950, specifically for Indian students over 18 years old until September 15, 2025. Eligible students are encouraged to use Gemini for academic purposes, including homework assistance and exam preparation. The subscription comes with valuable features such as Deep Research and integration with various Google Workspace applications, alongside generous 2TB of cloud storage across services like Photos and Drive.

This initiative aims to support the educational needs of over 140 million users in India, showcasing Google's commitment to advancing its AI technology to meet diverse user demands. Students interested in the offer must verify their eligibility by providing details about their school and proof of enrollment, a verification process expected to complete within half an hour.
